Post Jam Update & Beyond


And so our first ever Game Jam has come to a close.

Thank you so much @PirateSoftware for hosting and to every single one of you who played our wacky creation! And of course, huge congratulations to all the winners! <3

We've just released a new patch to address some of the feedback from you awesome people and some more fun features on top!

  • Added Card Tiers! You can now find stronger versions of cards.
  • Added Elite Zombies! These stronger zombies will give you extra goodies.
  • Sped up gameplay a bit! We got some feedback the doc needed more speed, so here you go!
  • Pickups will now spawn sooner into the run! This way you'll never feel like there's nothing on the map.
  • Added some more sound effects for better game feel!
  • Added extra goodies when you unlock the bunker or the shed!
  • Added a timer and sound effect for letting you know when the zombie virus is evolving!
  • Added some feedback when you are running out of syringes!
  • Added a clear win condition in the UI so you always know how close you were before the zombies got to you!
  • Added the much requested "Restart Run" button to the pause menu!

What happens next?

We absolutely fell in love with this game during the jam so we're happy to let you know we'll be putting this up on Steam very soon and continuing the development!

Awesome! The virus mutate siren is very nice, and the pickups spawning in the beginning was needed for sure since syringes are ran through quickly at the start. Elite zombie is a good way to add more strategy to one's playstyle. The card pickup is a good reward for the elites. I beat the update on my first try, and would really like a hard mode! I think a hard mode would be great to have before it goes on steam because of the 2 hour refund thing that people do (ugh).

Ideas for a hard mode:

  • After the 4 mutations currently it stops mutating... how about a stackable 5th one that keeps coming after you get all 4?? Could raise their cure tolerance (requires more bar to be filled)?
  • Elites don't drop card drops and/or more elites
  • Safezones get blocked off on a cyclical timer (this will force full map looping)
  • Less syringe holders and 1/2 of healthpacks spawn as syrgine instead
